Kwinana Industrial Area

The Kwinana Industrial Area (KIA) is home to a highly diverse range of operations and industries including fabrication and construction services, heavy process industries such as alumina, nickel and oil refineries, and a new full facility port.

The KIA was established following the signing of the Oil Refinery Act in 1952 and the rezoning of around 2400ha of coastal land dedicated for industrial development. The land has now become the primary area of industrial development in Western Australia.

The ideal location, proximity to skilled labour and the Western Australian Government’s commitment to developing a dedicated heavy industrial area have made the KIA a thriving industrial base for the State’s economy
